Remarks of CGPA during the
18th AARM Opening Ceremony AARM Village, Camp O'Donnell, Tarlac 040800 December 2008

(Appropriate greetings)

Magandang umaga po sa inyong lahat. Good morning everyone.

After seven years, the Philippine Army is proud and honored to once again host the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet or AARM, which is now on its 18th year.

As much as it is our honor, we are very happy and enthusiastic to welcome all of you-  the Deputy Chiefs of the ASEAN armies, as well as the team leaders and members of the contingents to this year's AARM.

Although it is unfortunate that a few of our Chiefs of Army and/or their Deputy will not be able to join us due to some unhappy circumstances and/or domestic commitments, I believe that I can still say that we have a high turn out of participants this year.

We come together once again in the spirit of friendly competition and with the vision of enhancing the bilateral and multilateral ties among our armies and our nations in the furtherance of regional unity and security. As such, we earnesty appreciate your presence and participation in this important event.

To the leaders and members of the various shooting teams, I wish you all the best.

At the end of this competition, there will certainly be individuals and teams who will emerge as winner in the different shooting events. But whatever the results will be, we shall all be happy for the victory of one is the victory of all the ASEAN armies.

It is therefore with great pleasure that I hereby declare the 18th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet officially open. Good luck to all the participating teams!

Maraming salamat po!

Mabuhay!
