    MGEN ROWEN S TOLENTINO PA assumed his leadership as the 54th Chief of Staff, of the Philippine Army on 20 December 2019. MGEN TOLENTINO is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class 1989.

    He was first assigned in Negros Occidental, where he practiced his leadership skills with the 3rd Infantry Division. For more than two years, he became the Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion. In 1993, he led different command and staff positions as well as special duties during his assignment with the Light Armor Brigade in which he operated within the areas of Luzon, Mindanao, and National Capital Region.

    As he advanced through his military career, he was reassigned to Headquarters Philippine Army as the Chief, Management Branch, Management and Fiscal Office, PA from 2004 to 2005, and Chief, Fiscal Operations Branch until 2008.

    In 2009, MGEN TOLENTINO went back to Light Armor Division to command the 2nd Mechanized Battalion in Mindanao and 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Luzon. After his stint as Battalion Commander, he became the Assistant Chief of Staff for CMO, G7 and Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations G3 of the Light Armor Division until July of 2012. After which, he was again reassigned to the Management and Fiscal Office of the Philippine Army where he was designated as the Executive Officer from 2012 to 2014 and then the Chief of the Office until 2018.

    MGEN TOLENTINO was the 18th Commander of 703rd Infantry (AGILA) Brigade wherein he conducted Enhanced Development Support Operation in Region III and dismantled KLG Caraballo.. Through his efforts on degrading  the CLRC, he was able to establish a secured environment for the people and enabled the public officials to function and perform their mandates effectively. He was then designated as Deputy Commander, Training and Doctrine Command,PA prior to his assumption as the Chief of Staff, Philippine Army.

    He has undergone various military and civilian schoolings both local and abroad for a progressive military career as well as to further his individual development. In 1989 and 1991, he has completed his Special Forces Operations Course and Basic Airborne Course, respectively, at the Special Forces School, Special Forces Regiment. In 1993, he took the Basic Aviators Course at the Manila International Pilot School. The following year, he completed his Armor Officer Basic Course at the Armor Service Extension School; Comptroller Officer Course in 1997 at the AFP Joint Service Command & Staff College; Armor Captains Career Course at the United States Army Armor School at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA in 2001; Command and General Staff Course in AFP Command and General Staff College in 2008. He also earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School for Business in 2007.

    With his valuable service reputation and accomplishment for thirty years, he received many recognition and appreciation from different institutions and organizations both military and civilian sectors. He is a recipient of Distinguished Service Stars, Gold Cross Medal, Bronze Cross Medals, Military Merit Medals, Military Civic Action Medals, Commendation Medals, Ribbons, Badges, Distinguished Service Award, Plaques and Letter of Commendations.

     MGEN TOLENTINO was born on 02 March 1968 at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City, and is happily married to Mrs Alma C Abad. They are blessed with two children, Reuel Louis and Mikaela Louise.
