CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City -- Troops under the 3rd Special Forces Battalion and 30th Infantry Battalion encountered the NPA terror groups in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Norte today, May 29, 2017, resulting to the death of 2 NPAs and the wounding of several others while troops recovered 5 high-powered firearms.
At around 3:30pm, a clash ensued between the troops of 3rd SF Battalion and the NPA extortionists in the outskirts of Brgy New Tubigon, Sibagat town of Agusan del Sur. The encounter lasted for about 20 minutes which resulted to the death of one NPA and wounding others. Troops recovered from the encounter site two (2) AK 47 and one (1) M16 rifles.
In Sitio Brazil, Brgy Mat-i, an outskirt community of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, troops under 30th Infantry Battalion encountered at around 7pm another NPA terror group who are conducting recruitment and extortion activities in the said area. The 10 minutes firefight resulted to the death of another NPA and wounding others while two (2) M16 rifles were recovered by the troops at the encounter site.
MGen Benjamin R Madrigal Jr., 4ID Commander lauded the troops for their swift action in addressing the threat posed by the NPAs in the said communities.
"I congratulate our soldiers who gallantly faced these bandits who are terrorizing our people. We will not stop on our quest to ensure the safety and peaceful life. I urge the members of this rebel group to lay down their arms and live a peaceful life or face the consequences of joining the armed bandits."
Relentless pursuit operations are going on to hunt down the said bandits.
