The 82IB redeployed to Mindanao area as Follow-On-Forces to augment operating troops of the Western Mindanao Command, AFP (WESMINCOM) in suppressing the Marawi rebellion.
The ceremony was also graced by Hon Rhodora Cadiao, Governor of Antique and incumbent Chairperson of RDC6; and Msgr Meliton Oso, Chairman Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center (JASAC). The Local Government officials of Iloilo City and the Staff Officers, family and friends of the 82IB personnel also witnessed the ceremony.
In her message, Governor Cadiao conveyed her gratitude to the officers and men of the 82IB for their dedication to duty which paved the way for the declaration of Antique as insurgency free province. “I know you will go to Mindanao for a mission, for the fast recovery and rehabilitation of Marawi City. We the Antiqueńos will pray for your safety and you will bring our love and prayers in your duties to accomplish and have a lasting peace in Mindanao.” Gov Cadiao stressed.
Major General Jon Aying urged the soldiers to focus, build teamwork and trust, and exhibit the desired military discipline at all times so that they could effectively work and fight as a team, squad, platoon, company and battalion as well.
MGen Aying also assure the soldiers 3ID’ full support so that they could focus on the operations. “We are doing this for god, our country and our people”, Mgen Aying stressed.
The 82IB is being led by LTC Vener Morga. The AFP’s development support efforts in its former area of operations will be assumed by the 33rd Division Reconnaissance Company led by 1LT Joseph Labrador.
