CGPA receives standing ovation during CALFS 2018

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito D. Bautista recently attended the Chief of Army Land Force Seminar 2018 (CALFS 2018) held in Adelaide, Australia from September 03 to 06, 2018 wherein he received a warm welcome and standing ovation in his presentation of the “Marawi Experience”.

CALFS is a gathering of Chiefs of Army participated by various countries in Indo-Pacific aim at promoting defence cooperation and establishing a nexus of security and stability within the region. The agenda set for this year meeting was focused on terrorism and countering violent extremism which is generally perceived as a serious emerging threat globally.

The CGPA was one of the keynote speakers in the four-day event wherein he presented the operations and outcomes of the attack of Islamic extremists in the historic City of Marawi. The presentation, made of photographic and video images directly taken during the battle placed the audience right in the middle of the conflict with the main actor, the CGPA himself, being then the over-all commander on the ground as the one actually presenting it.

Lt. Gen. Bautista expressed his gratitude to everyone, particularly the Australian Defence Force for the opportunity to share the Philippine Army’s experience in fighting terrorism and violent extremism. He said that amidst the serious threat of terrorism, it is important that all nations should be collaborating and unified in the preservation of peace and security.#
