FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila- Two Army soldier athletes were among the top runners in the recently concluded Indonesian National Armed Forces International Marathon 2018 held at Kuta Beach, Mandalika, Lombok, Indonesia on November 4, 2018.

Corporal Jho-an Banayag Villarma reclaimed the bronze medal in the women’s 21K category with the time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and 50.4 seconds. She won a cash prize worth 28 Million Rupiah or an equivalent of P100, 000.00. On the other hand, Corporal Richard Salaño placed 6th in the event winning a cash prize worth 15 Million Rupiah or P 57,000.00.

The marathon was organized to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Thousands of runners comprised of students, community members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, International Armed Forces/Police, national as well as international athlete participated the event.

The Philippine Army supports its athletes in their endeavor to bring honor to the organization as its representative in the international sporting arena. This is also in line with the Army’s commitment in achieving its vision to be a world-class army that is a source of national pride by 2028.#
