FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – “A father’s presence brings heaven home this Christmas season” - this is how can be best described the visit of the new Chief of Staff, AFP, Lt. Gen. Benjamin R. Madrigal Jr. to the Headquarters of Philippine Army (HPA) in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City, today, December 19, 2018.

Lt. Gen. Madrigal, the 51st Chief of Staff, AFP paid his visit to the Army headquarters with the intent of getting acquainted and reunited with the troops in time for the celebration of Chrismas. He was accorded with full military honors spearheaded by Maj. Gen. Robert S. Arevalo, Army Vice Commander together with the officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees of the Command.

The new CSAFP is considered no longer guest since he had served in various positions at HPA in which, the most significant is also as Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army in 2016.

In his meeting with the personnel, he conveyed his thrust and guidance in consonance to the marching orders by the Commander in-Chief, President Rodrigo R.Duterte. He cited to instill operational effectiveness in key mission areas for territorial defense, security, and stability operations. In terms of organizational excellence, he emphasized adherence on the highest standard of excellence and professionalism while living up to our core values of honor, service and patriotism.

He also mentioned that leading the whole AFP is a great challenge. He recognized the entire Command’s strong commitment to the campaign for peace and reiterated its contribution in building a safer and secured nation.

CSAFP emphasized in his message that, “as we embark on our achievements, let us not be complacent and let us not allow the Communist-Terrorists Group operations prosper. We will insulate the communities from any clout of fear, we will stand our ground.”

“As we fulfill our respective tasks and responsibilities, let us also take some time to feel the spirit of the holiday season and reflect on its meaning. The essence of giving also reflects our commitment for selfless service and dedication,” Lt. Gen. Madrigal added.

Lt. Gen. Madrigal despite of his busy and hectic schedule tried to spare time with the troops through a simple yet appetizing “boodle fight”. A Christmas raffle served also as the highlight of his visit to the delight of the personnel.#
