COC CSPA 2019

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila- The Philippine Army has a new Chief of Staff in the person of Maj. Gen. Jesus B. Sarsagat who succeeded Maj. General Jose C. Faustino Jr. The change of office rite was presided by no less than the Commanding General Philippine Army, Lieutenant General Macairog S. Alberto held here today, Jan.10, 2019 at HPA Conference Room.

Maj. Gen. Sarsagat belongs to Philippine Military Academy “MARINGAL” Class of 1988. He started his military career with the First Scout Ranger Battalion, First Scout Ranger Regiment as Platoon Leader deployed in the Southern Tagalog Region. It was then during his Company Commander days when he was critically wounded and obtained the “Scar of War” in Jovellar, Albay in the year 1992. Prior to his present position he was the former Brigade Commander of 603rd Brigade, 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division, Philippine Army. During his stint, the 603rd was awarded as the Best Brigade of 6ID in two consecutive years.

In his message, the new Army Chief of Staff expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him. He also emphasized that he will carry on what his predecessor had started and assured the Commanding General that he will do his best to accomplish the job given to him.

On the other hand, Lt. Gen. Alberto in his speech also expressed his appreciation to Maj. Gen. Faustino for efficiently stirring the HPA Staff even for a short period. His short stint is brought about by the necessity that requires him to assume a more sensitive position, which is as Commander of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division. According to CGPA the new Chief of Staff is an equally competent officer whose skills have been tested across almost all fields.

Change of leadership is traditional to the Philippine Army whose goal is to sustain organizational excellence and good governance in order to provide better service to the country and the Filipino people.#
