FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila– The Philippine Army in partnership with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Banco De Oro Foundation launched a Financial Literacy Program for the troops today, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.
The Philippine Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Robert M. Arevalo with Deputy Governor of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Chuchi G. Fonacier, and President of BDO Foundation Mario A. Deriquito formalized the joint initiative as they launched the Financial Literacy Program which aims to educate the soldiers on how to best manage their finances. During the event, the Philippine Army received three instructional videos and trainer’s kit from BSP and BDO foundation which will be used as the main educational resources for the program.
“This program will help promote financial stability among our personnel and their family that will reflect a more motivated and professional soldier which makes a strong, reliable, and world-class Army. We look forward to positive results but we expect that we will need to continue to evaluate, adjust, and inform our personnel regarding this program,” said Maj. Gen. Arevalo during his speech before the turnover of program materials.
The BSP advocates educating consumers on finance to ensure an effective partnership with them in maintaining the effectiveness of its monetary policy while this effort of the BDO Foundation is in line with the corporate social responsibility of BDO Unibank.
The Philippine Army values partnerships with other organizations in conducting programs that are beneficial and inspiring for our troops as they continue with their positive contributions for the Army Transformation Roadmap and lead the organization into being world-class by 2028.#
