FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army has activated the 21st Scout Ranger Company (SRC) in Camp Tecson, Bulacan, on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. The Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto led the activation ceremony of the 21st SRC as well as the groundbreaking ceremony for the new unit's barracks and the renaming of the Scout Ranger Training School to Scout Ranger School (SRS). The unit’s activation enhances the warfighting competency of the Scout Rangers. Moreover, the two-story barracks for the 21st SRC will have a building cost of about 10 million pesos. On the other hand, the SRC also received a new facility in the form of a Training Pool. This is important for the fitness training and water survival facility for the students. “All these developments point to the growing capability of the First Scout Ranger Regiment in terms of manpower, facilities and the organization. Furthermore, these affirm the solid commitment of the Philippine Army to support and sustain the might and capabilities of the FSRR,” said Alberto. The First Scout Ranger Regiment specializes in anti-guerrilla jungle warfare, raids, ambushes, close quarters combat, urban warfare, and sabotage. They commonly operate against terrorist groups such as the Abu Sayyaf.#
