FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army commemorated the 121st Philippine Independence Day with a Flag Raising Ceremony here today, June 12, 2019.
The ceremony was also held simultaneously by all major and subordinate units of the Army all over the country.
In a message to the troops, the Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto encouraged the organization to professionalize, modernize, and always strive for excellence. "As the Philippine Army joins the entire Filipino nation in celebration and remembrance, we salute the gallantry and heroism of our heroes who gave life and limb for our freedom as a people and the foundation of our nation.
After 121 years, the Filipino people continue to benefit from the hard-fought freedom, and in turn, we the men and women of Team Army continue the service that secured our nation’s birth and growth.
It is now our turn to stand strong and defend our sovereignty and our future. Our pledge binds us to remain vigilant and protect our people from any and all threats. As members of Team Army, we have a sacred duty to safeguard freedom and secure the peace," he added.
