Army installs new Civil-Military Operations Regiment Commander

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army installed the new commander of the Civil-Military Operations Regiment (CMOR) on August 15 here.

In a Change of Command Ceremony, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto led the turnover of the unit symbol from outgoing commander Col. Facundo O. Palafox to the incoming Col. Arvin R. Lagamon.

Lagamon is a graduate of Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management Major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines and a Master’s Degree in National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines. Some of his military schooling include the Command and General Staff Course from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff College and a Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course from the Defense Information School in Maryland, USA.

Before his assumption as regiment commander, Lagamon is already serving CMOR as the Deputy Regiment Commander. He also served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations at the 8th Infantry "Storm Trooper" Division in 2012, Commanding Officer of the 63rd Infantry Battalion in 2014, and as Secretary Army General Staff in 2017.

On the other hand, Palafox, who will assume as the commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, is a graduate of PMA “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management Major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines.

During the ceremony, Alberto highlighted CMOR’s achievements such as the establishment of the Army Social Media Monitoring Center, activation of the 14th CMO Battalion and the Information Support Affairs Center.

“We shall continue to support the CMOR in its efforts to upgrade capabilities and capacities to effectively counter violent extremism and narratives of evolving threats. Let us do our best as we move forward in our journey to build a world-class Army that is a source of pride and hope for the Filipino,” said Alberto.#
