FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - A media adviser to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Miss Earth Philippines Air 2018 are the newest members of the Army Reserve Component after receiving the rank of probationary second lieutenant in a donning ceremony held here today, August 25.
The Army Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto donned the ranks on PCOO media adviser Pia Roces Morato and former beauty queen Zahra Bianca Saldua in front of their family and friends and other senior Army officers, as actors Dingdong Dantes and Rocco Nacino look on.
Aside from being a PCOO adviser and a radio broadcaster for Radyo Pilipinas, Morato is also an educator and a journalist, writing for various broadsheets. As a communicator, she is involved in country to country bilateral agreements which touches on the national defense arena, thus prompting her to volunteer in the Reserve Force. "My advocacy is education and I am here to serve the people and the nation," said Morato.
On the other hand, Saldua's expertise is in community relations being a television and radio personality. She is also an entrepreneur and has done hosting jobs in some of the Army's activities in the past. "Since I was in college being part of ROTC, I always wanted to serve our country. I always wanted to help the people and I wanted to be a part of the future of the Philippine Army being its representative to the public. This a dream come true for me and I hope I can influence more of our youth to serve the people as well," Saldua said.
"We want more people to volunteer as reservists to defend our country. It promotes unity and we have a common denominator which is love for our country. We hope that your volunteerism will inspire more of our people, especially the youth, to join the Army," said Alberto.#
