FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Commanding General, Philippine Army commemorates the National Heroes Day by visiting battle casualties currently confined at the Army General Hospital today, August 25.
He is joined by Philippine Marine reservist Dingdong Dantes and Navy reservist Rocco Nacino in the pinning of ranks and awards to the soldiers, who fought in the Battle of Marawi and other battles against the New People's Army.
"As the country celebrates National Heroes Day, we do not only look back into the country's past heroes who fought for the freedom we now enjoy, but we also recognize the living heroes who made sure that this same freedom will be inherited by future generations of Filipinos. We express our deep gratitude to the soldiers who risked their lives in defense of our country and to all the silent heroes who are continually putting themselves in danger to serve the people", said Lt. Col Ramon Zagala, the Army spokesperson.#
