FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army Civil-Military Operations Regiment (CMOR) celebrates its 66th Founding Anniversary here today, August 30, through an awarding of deserving personnel and the blessing of the Modular Barracks and Mobile Loudspeakers with the Army Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Jesus B. Sarsagat as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
CMOR is the unit primary responsible in conducting information support and civil affairs operations of the command, among its other tasks.
This year, CMOR aims to continue its diverse and intensified operations against evolving threats through its future programs and activities.
The regiment was created in the 1950s because of the emerging threat of rebellion by the Huks against the Philippine government. Before it was called as it is today, the Philippine Army Battalion Combat Teams were created with civil affairs afficers to conduct psychological warfare against the said group. More than four decades later, President Fidel Ramos instructed the change of the unit’s name from Psychological Operations Group to Civil Affairs Group. Later on, it was renamed as Civil-Military Operations Group and finally as CMOR.
Recently, the regiment held an Army Capability and Variety Show at Bonifacio Global City last August 25.
“As we look back to what was, and envision what could be, let the ideas of diversity and intensity serve as a means to overcome the challenges that lies ahead. With this in mind, continue to gain ground and build unbreakable bonds through the trademark of the CMO battle cry: winning the the hearts and minds of the people. You are finely-honed instruments of peace, and I expect that you continue to always give your best as CMO warriors as we move closer to our vision of a world-class army that is a source of national pride,” said Sarsagat.#
