Army commemorates Bonifacio Day

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army joined the nationwide celebration of the Bonifacio Day through a ceremony held here today, November 30.

The Army Vice Commander, Maj. Gen. Renaldo M. Aquino, led the commemoration rites at the Bonifacio Monument standing in the middle of the Headquarters Philippine Army’s flagpole area. A descendant of Gat Andres Bonifacio also graced the event and gave an inspiring speech.

On the other hand, Aquino reminded the members of the Philippine Army on the significance of today’s celebration. “For all the members of the Philippine Army, officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resource— Gat Bonifacio is the spiritual embodiment of the organization because the movement he founded, the Katipunan, became the cornerstone upon which the modern-day Philippine Army was founded,” he said.

“We can all relate to Gat Bonifacio, because his bravery and readiness to sacrifice are the same values which we continuously apply to our own service for our country and the people,” said Aquino added.#
