AFP Mobile Kitchen serves breakfast to Taal evacuees

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army deployed the AFP Mobile Field Kitchen Trailer in partnership with the morning program Unang Hirit at Pedro Palacio Sr. Memorial Elementary School in Brgy. Sta. Ana, Calatagan, Batangas today, January 24, 2020.

Unang Hirit sought the assistance of the Philippine Army to provide meals to 214 evacuees who has been in the evacuation center for almost two weeks now following the unrest of Taal.

The Mobile Field Kitchen Trailer can be assembled in less than 30 minutes and can be used to prepare complete meals for 300 people. With its modular design, it can be easily transported even in difficult terrains. Aside from its large food preparation surface, the materials of the trailer is also designed to ensure the hygiene in the kitchen.

The evacuees are said to be from the barangays Lemery and Agoncillo which are among the areas severely affected by the natural calamity. The said towns are still covered in thick layers of volcanic ash and are still threatened to be destroyed if Taal violently erupts.

Unang Hirit also provided free medical check-up and medicine supply. The show also distributed vegetables donated by the municipality of Gobaldon, Nueva Ecija.

We continuously work to improve our Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response capabilities in order to better serve the people in partnership with other concerned agencies,” said Lt. Col.
