Army installs new Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - In a change of chief of office ceremony, the Philippine Army installs the new Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans (OG5) here today, February 20.

Army Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino led the ceremonial turnover of the office symbol from the outgoing OG5 chief, Col. Romulo A. Manuel to incoming acting chief, Col. Rommel R. Cordova.

Prior to his assumption, Cordova served as the Deputy, OG5 and was also the Executive Officer of the Army Governance and Strategy Management Office, the unit in charge of overseeing the Army Transformation Roadmap. He also served as the Commanding Officer of the 62nd Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division in 2013.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993, he took the Armed Forces of the Philippines Command and General Staff Course in 2013 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Affairs from the Australian National University and in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.

On the other hand, Romulo recently assumed as Commander of the Army Artillery Regiment. Under his leadership, the OG5 conducted significant trainings and activities such as the 12th Senior Leaders Conference and Gat Andres Bonifacio Colloquium among others. The OG5 performs functions in relation to the Army’s strategic planning and management, capability development, and international defense and security engagements.

“Your office is vital to the accomplishment of our thrusts, particularly on achieving operational and organizational excellence and pursuing the Army Modernization Program in order to achieve our strategic direction of sustaining the momentum in capacitating the Army towards greater mission effectiveness. Through your collective efforts, we will achieve our vision of becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride,” said Tolentino.#
