Army installs new commander of 10ID

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army installed a new commander of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID) in a Change of Command Ceremony held in Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr, Bgry. Tuboran, Mawab, Compostella Valley on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

Maj. Gen. Noel S. Clement replaced Maj. General Rafael C. Valencia as commander of the 10ID during the Change of Command Ceremony presided by Lt. Gen. Glorioso V. Miranda, Commanding General of the Philippine Army.

Clement is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sandiwa” Class of 1985. He is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Clement started his military career as a Platoon Leader under the 44th Infantry Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division in 1985. He is a seasoned operations officer and commander, having held this post in various units in the past. During his stint under the Presidential Security Group (PSG), he served as the commanding officer of the Presidential Guards in 2002. He also served as the commanding officer of the 56th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division in 2004 and the 602nd Brigade, 6th Infantry Division in 2014. Prior to his current post, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3 at the General Headquarters, AFP in 2016.

Clement is also a recipient of numerous awards such as two Bronze Cross Medals and four Distinguished Service Stars.

On the other hand, Valencia has been promoted as the new Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Valencia is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maharlika” Class of 1984. He is also a holder of a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He was the Chief of Staff of the 10th Infantry Division in 2008, the 3rd Infantry Division in 2011, and the Philippine Army in 2014 prior to his designation as the commander of the 10th Infantry Division in 2014.#
