Army holds Juana Leadership Online conference

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army through the Office of the Army Gender and Development (OAGAD) conducted its Juana Leadership Online conference here today, July 9, 2020.

The event, which is in connection with the women’s month celebration last month, aims to capacitate women soldiers and civilian human resource playing key roles in the overall mission accomplishment of the organization.

During the video conference, guest speakers Sen. Grace Poe-Llamanzares and Marie Antoniette Miranda, an International Image Strategist of Radiance Image Consultancy, gave lectures on the value of leadership and life influence empowerment amid the COVID-19 crisis in the country.

Sen. Poe-Llamanzares also commended the Army women who answered the call of defending the country despite the challenging demands in a military organization. “If there is anyone who can inspire our people with their tenacity, grit, and skill then it is the women in this very chat room,” she said.

“Our history reveals that Filipino women are resilient in overcoming gender restrictive challenges and are sound partners in promoting a dynamic and inclusive environment. Now, our collective endeavor ensures that women are not left behind in the countless pursuit of decision making and peace building initiatives,” said Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay.

“I believe that change should empower women regardless of our call for gender balance in terms of leadership, decision making, and capacitating individuals to reach their missions. I look forward to more succeeding gender related initiatives in the near future,” he added.#
