CGPA graces 54th Engineer Brigade founding anniversary

Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila – The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) led the commemoration of the 29th Founding Anniversary of the 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade today, August 15, 2020 in Cabatangan, Zamboanga City.

As the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana lauded the Sarangay Brigade under its current commander, Brig. Gen. Anthony T. Cacayuran, in efforts to promote nation-building through infrastructure and civic programs that aim to bring hope and inspiration to communities in Western Mindanao.

The CGPA further noted the Brigade’s achievements such as forming Disaster Response Task Groups that has been conducting checkpoint operations, transportation assistance, installation of COVID-19 facilities, distribution of relief goods and personal protective equipment, and other sustainment efforts while maintaining its personnel COVID-19-free. He also commended the unit’s Engineering Civic Action Projects that resulted to road openings in several barangays in Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay and the acquisition of a military reservation in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“As the Army’s prime builder in the region, the Sarangay’s role is vital in nurturing stability and progress in our country,” said Sobejana. “I am counting on your support as we capacitate the Army to better find, fix, and finish the enemy; exploit such gains; and sustain good governance. Together, let us build public confidence, and maintain our enthusiasm for us to triumph over wars and win the peace,” he added.
