Army conducts Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief in typhoon affected areas

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army deployed troops in Luzon Island to assist in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts for affected residents by Typhoon Ulysses.
The 1st and 2nd Light Urban Search and Rescue Team under 525th Engineer Combat Battalion are on board with military trucks, water rescue boats, and rescue vans to assist the Local Government Units (LGUs) and concerned agencies in conducting search and rescue operations in heavily affected areas in San Mateo and Montalban, Rizal.
Typhoon Ulysses, with international name ‘Vamco’ damaged an estimate of P4.25 billion on infrastructure and P104 million in agricultural goods. Meanwhile, a total of 350,000 evacuated their homes due to strong winds and heavy downpour.
The Philippine Army is in continuous coordination with other government agencies to reach our countrymen in typhoon affected areas and deliver them to safety .#
