Philippine Army joins 21st ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM)

Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Commanding General of Philippine Army (CGPA) joined the 21st ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM) 2020 hosted by the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) last November 24, 2020. The meeting was composed of the Army leaders from South East Asia nations from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The multilateral meeting was held virtually in view of the COVID-19 Pandemic and was the first virtual meeting conducted since the event was conceived in 2000. The theme of the ACAMM is “Cohesion and Responsiveness of ASEAN Armies to Address the Dynamics of Regional Security Challenges following new norms from COVID-19 Pandemic.”
The CGPA shared the best practices of the PA in fighting the COVID-19 as well as in supporting the national government’s pandemic response. The other Chiefs of the Army also shared from their respective ends with the intent of learning from each other’s best practices and further promoting regional cooperation in the process. More importantly, there was a generic commitment by all of them to pursue and sustain cooperation and collaboration despite the pandemic by any other means possible.
For the 22nd ACAMM, the Myanmar Army accepted the Chairmanship from RBLF for the hosting next year in 2021. #
