FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – Operating troops from 58th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division seized firearm and numerous ammunitions after an encounter with rebel forces at Balingasag, Misamis Oriental today, January 20, 2021.
At around 7 o’clock in the morning, the troops encountered more or less twenty NPA terrorists resulting to a 15-minute firefight. Said encounter resulted to the seizure of one AR 18 rifle, one long and four short magazines for M16, fifty rounds of M16 ammo, fifteen rounds of AK-47 ammo, two cellphones, one flash drive, medical paraphernalia, and subversive documents.
“I commend our troops from the 58th Infantry Battalion for their display of operational excellence in the face of the enemies. Your unit’s efforts to build up the capability to find, fix, and finish the enemy of our state can lead us towards a better nation free of insurgency,” said Commanding General Philippine Army Lt.
