Army honors fallen troops in Catanauan, Quezon encounter

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army honors the fallen soldiers of the 85th Infantry Battalion (85IB) who died in an encounter last February 5, 2021 in Catanauan, Quezon.

1Lt. Romeo Sabio Jr. (31), Sgt. Helexor Arian Placido (31), and Cpl. John Paul Palangan (33), were killed during a clash against members of the CPP-NPA-Terrorists (CNT) in Sitio Hinapay, Barangay San Roque in the said province.

At around 4 o'clock in the morning, the troops engaged in a 45-minute firefight that led to the death of CNT squad leader "Marwin" and seizure of an M16 rifle, M203 grenade launcher, bandolier, ammunition, and communication devices.
