Army installs new “Jungle Fighter” Division Commander

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, Philippine Army welcomed Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino as its new Commander in a Change of Command Ceremony today, July 27, 2021 at Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.

The Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA) Maj. Gen. Andres C. Centino presided the ceremony as Maj. Gen. Tolentino assumed the position from outgoing Commander Maj. Gen. Bartolome Vicente O. Bacarro.

Prior to his assumption, Maj. Gen. Tolentino held key positions such as Philippine Army Chief of Staff, Deputy Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, Commander of 703rd Infantry Brigade, and Chief of Management and Fiscal Office. He is a member of Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class if 1989 and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Ateneo University.

On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Bacarro, a Medal for Valor Awardee was commended by the CGPA for his exceptional leadership in capacitating the Division in becoming a high-performance and responsive unit. Under his stint, the “Jungle Fighters” neutralized 10 CNT members, welcomed 175 enemy personalities, dismantled three Guerilla fronts and one Guerilla platoon, cleared 10 barangays, and encouraged 486 individuals to revoke their membership from communist-run organizations.
