FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army installed Brig. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong as the 55th Chief of Staff in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony here today, July 28, 2021.
In a ceremony presided by the Commanding General Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Andres C. Centino, Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino relinquished the position to incoming Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Capulong.
Brig. Gen. Capulong served as the 602nd Brigade Commander of the 6th Infantry Division prior to his assumption. He exhibited excellent leadership skills as he handled key positions such as the Senior Military Officer to the Secretary of National Defense; Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, G5; Secretary Army General Staff; Commanding Officer, Security Escort Battalion; and Commanding Officer, 19th Infantry Battalion. Brig. Gen, Capulong is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990 and holds a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration.
Maj. Gen. Tolentino, on the other hand, assumed as the 2nd Infantry Division Commander after serving as the Army’s Chief of Staff since 2019. He played a significant role in ensuring the effective and efficient orchestration of efforts among the general, special, technical staff, and personnel down the line. His high regard for the personnel’s morale and welfare and his efforts in overseeing plans, policies, and doctrines on human resources steered the Army in the continuous accomplishment of its DOTESS functions. Maj. Gen. Tolentino is a member of PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989 and graduated from Ateneo University with a Master in Business Administration.
