Landers Superstore and property developer Deca Homes turned over Eight Million pesos worth of much-needed supplies that the Philippine Army will distribute to typhoon-stricken families in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The Philippine Army sent military trucks and personnel to Lander's branches in Metro Manila from December 21-22 to pick up the relief items and consolidate them at Philippine Army Headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, before distribution to the beneficiaries. The relief goods consist of bottled water, canned goods, toiletries, and other food products.
The relief goods come from the Landers, and Deca Homes-led donation drive, which receives overwhelming support from their customers and volunteers. Actor and reservist 2nd Lt. Matteo Guidicelli also joined the donation drive and donated relief goods for typhoon-stricken families.
The donation drive for residents affected by "Odette" continues as the Philippine Army continues to assist local government units in assessing the extent of damage in inaccessible typhoon-stricken communities.
Army Chief, Maj. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr assures the Filipino People that "The Philippine Army is working 'round the clock with other government agencies, local government units, and private sector partners to expedite the delivery of much-needed relief items to typhoon-stricken countrymen in the Visayas, Mindanao and some areas in Southern Luzon."
"HADR missions are a vital part of the Philippine Army's sworn mandate to serve the people and secure the land," the CGPA added.
Since last week, the Philippine Army troops and reserve units have been conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations when Typhoon "Odette" swept through large swathes of Eastern Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, Visayas, and Palawan.
The Philippine Army will coordinate with the Office of Civil Defense and AFP General Headquarters on the priority areas where the relief goods will be delivered and for the transportation requirements.
