Central Mindanao-based Army unit extends help to typhoon-hit Negros Occidental

The Central Mindanao-based 6th Infantry launched a massive humanitarian assistance and relief operations in Negros Occidental involving more than 100 personnel and 19 vehicles that transported essential supplies to typhoon-affected communities.
The essential supplies—which consist of food items, bottled water, construction materials, three generator sets, solar flood lights, and various debris clearing equipment—arrived in the province in three separate batches from December 22 to 30, 2021. 6ID troops also conducted psycho-social intervention activities to badly hit barangays in Negros Occidental. This was aimed to help children and their parents recover from the traumatic experience of Typhoon Odette.
“In this trying time we need to act beyond the call of duty to help those who were affected. Despite Negros Occidental not being under 6ID area of responsibility, the Kampilan Family initiated this relief effort because our fellow Filipinos needs our help and we are duty bound to help and offer assistance beyond our operational boundaries. We have been working round the clock to save lives and lessen the burdens of those who were affected by the typhoon,” Maj. Gen. Uy said.
Philippine Army also sent from its main headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City 14 truckloads of essential supplies to Cebu and another 21 truckloads of relief supplies to Southern Leyte and Surigao del Norte last week.
Philippine Army units nationwide, in coordination with the national agencies and local government units, have launched massive relief operations since the onslaught of Typhoon Odette on more than two weeks ago.
