The Philippine Army’s 52nd Engineer Brigade (52EBde) continued to assist local government units in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts for communities affected by Typhoon “Odette” in northeastern Mindanao on January 9, 2022.
52EBde has been conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts since “Odette” swept through Mindanao and Visayas in mid-December 2021.
Seven construction and maintenance teams from 52EBde are currently deployed to clear debris-strewn roads and help repair typhoon-damaged homes and government buildings in Surigao del Norte, Siargao and Dinagat Island. The teams also facilitated the delivery of construction materials to help typhoon-stricken families rebuild their homes in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Island.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. lauded Army units involved in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts as he assured families in calamity areas of the Army’s continued help.
“The Philippine Army will continue to exhaust all means to help our typhoon-stricken countrymen get back on their feet,” the CGPA said.
