Philippine Army installs new assistant chief of staff for intelligence

The Philippine Army installed a new Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2 in a turnover ceremony today, January 17, 2022, at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong led the ceremonial turnover of the office symbol from outgoing OG2 chief, Col. Edmundo Peralta to the incoming chief, Col. Edmund Paul Delos Santos.
Before assuming the position, Col. Delos Santos served as the 4th Infantry Division’s (4ID) assistant chief of staff for intelligence. Moreover, he held key positions in the Intelligence Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Army's 501st Infantry Brigade of the 5th Infantry Division.
Col. Delos Santos is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Bantay Laya" Class of 1994. He completed a Master’s degree in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines. He also completed the Command and General Staff Course in 2017 and took intel courses at the Defense Intelligence College in Washington, D.C.
Meanwhile, Col. Peralta recently assumed as commander of the 902nd Infantry Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division. He is a member of PMA “Tanglaw Diwa” Class of 1992. He holds a Master in Public Management and Master in National Security Administration degrees and has likewise completed the Command and General Staff Course.
Maj. Gen. Capulong lauded incoming OG2 chief Col. Delos Santos for his significant role in the neutralization of top CTG and terror leaders in his former assignments. The CSPA also called on Col. Delos Santos to help fulfill the intent of the Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. to ensure peaceful elections by eradicating remaining threat groups.
The CSPA meanwhile thanked Col. Peralta for his consistency and work ethic which allowed OG2 to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ “Operational Directive on Sustained and Enhanced Development Support and Security Operations Against All Threat Groups.”
Under Col. Peralta’s stint as OG2 chief, he supervised the conduct of 332 intelligence training activities and implemented the K9 Breeding Program which will increase the number of military working dogs to 343 by end of 2023.
“To Col. Peralta and Col. Delos Santos, I commend your hard work and selfless service for more than 30 years of active duty. I congratulate both of you on a new opportunity to serve the interest of our country. I wish you both good luck in your future endeavors,” the CSPA remarked. #
