Operating troops of the Army's 58th Infantry Battalion (58IB), 4th Infantry Division neutralized a CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) and seized firearms in a 20-minute firefight against 20 communists-terrorist at the hinterlands of Barangay Lawaan, Ginoog City, Misamis Oriental on February 17, 2022.
The slain CNT belonged to the NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee. Troops captured two M16 rifles; five short and long magazines for M16 rifles; 123 5.56mm ammunitions; as well as subversive documents and personal items left by CNTs.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 58IB troops for capturing war materiels that will deny CNTs the means to commit further atrocities and other illegal activities. The Army Chief, in his command guidance, has vowed to provide ample support to ground forces to bolster mission effectiveness.
