Philippine Army reinvents gift-giving for its 125th founding anniversary

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) led the ceremonial handover of anniversary packages to Army units in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on March 14, 2022.

To mark the Army's 125th Founding Anniversary, the gift-giving program was held synchronously in respective Army units. The CGPA Lt. Gen. Brawner, Jr., delegated the gift packages to Army's 1st Infantry Division; the Vice Commander Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Henry M. Doyaoen steered the activity in the 8th Infantry Division; and Chief of Staff Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong led the conferral in the 5th Infantry Division.

The face-to-face handover of gift packages is to show and demonstrate to all Army units that they are part of the big milestones of what the Philippine Army has achieved over the years.

“Gusto ko na ipaabot natin ang celebration hanggang doon sa pinakamababa na unit natin. Gusto kong ibigay natin mismo ang mga pagkain at bagong kagamitan tulad ng combat boots, athletic uniforms, rubber shoes, motorsiklo, pick-up, at mga libro,” Lt. Gen. Brawner, Jr., said.

The CGPA extended his appreciation to all the Army troops who have sacrificed eagerly beyond their duty in performing the command’s mandate and accomplishing its mission. #
