Philippine Army, U.S. Army Pacific hold CBRN exercise

Philippine Army (PA) troops trained with their U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) counterparts in responding to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (CBRN) threats in a four-day exercise that concluded on April 1, 2022 in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.

The exercise—which is among the eight PA-USARPAC combined interoperability drills that cover a spectrum of military operations —is geared at honing the interoperability and readiness of Filipino and U.S. forces in responding to CBRN threats. PA’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Battalion and USARPAC personnel held lectures and practical exercises on mitigating and responding to CBRN attack scenarios.

Dubbed as the largest-ever iteration of Balikatan, around 8,900 Filipino and U.S. servicemen are taking part in the 12-day training exercises geared at strengthening interoperability and improving both militaries’ readiness to respond to various security threats and crises.
