The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division (8ID) deployed humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) teams to areas affected by landslides and flashfloods in Leyte and Southern Leyte provinces as tropical depression “Agaton” continues to linger over Eastern Visayas on April 10, 2022.
The disaster response teams are conducting humanitarian assistance operations in Baybay City and Hilongos town in Leyte and Liloan, Southern Leyte. Meanwhile, 8ID line units remain on high alert as “Agaton”, the first tropical cyclone to affect the Philippines in 2022, continues to dump rains on most of Eastern Visayas and parts of Central Visayas as of April 11, 2022.
It can be recalled that 10th Infantry Division troops, hand-in-hand with reservists, launched HADR efforts for families affected by floods and landslides in Davao City and adjacent provinces last week due to the non-stop rains dumped by the low pressure that later became “Agaton.”
