Army installs new IMCOM Commander

The Philippine Army welcomed Brig. Gen. George Joel N. Lalaquil as the new commander of the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) in a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony on April 11, 2022 at Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., presided over the ceremony where outgoing IMCOM chief Brig. Gen. Philip S. Lapinid relinquished his post to incoming chief Brig. Gen. Lalaquil.

Brig. Gen. Lalaquil is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Makatao” Class of 1989. Prior to his new position, he led the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines as their Commander since 2020. He also held key positions from Task Force Davao, 10th Infantry Division; Chief of Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, G7 and the Commanding Officer of 82nd Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Lapinid served in the Philippine Army for 38 years. During his stint at the helm of IMCOM, the command accounted a total of 185 camps and reservations along with the development and improvement of Army facilities. He also committed to pursuing the Army Transformation Roadmap and boosting the morale and welfare of the soldiers. Brig. Gen. Lapinid is a member of the PMA “Maringal” Class of 1988.

During the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Brawner extended his well-wishes to the generals for unfolding a new chapter in their military career.

“For the Philippine Army to continuously and successfully perform its mission, it must ensure the proper management, development, and administration of its major installations and military reservations. It is for this reason that we reserve the leadership of Installation Management Command only to capable hands. To the personnel of IMCOM, I count on you to provide Brig. Gen. Lalaquil with the same trust and support that you have given Brig. Gen. Lapinid and your past commanders,” said Lt. Gen. Brawner.
