The Philippine Army joined the candle ceremony which culminated the commemoration of the 80th Veterans’ Week year 2022 at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on April 11, 2022.
Pasig Rep. Roman T. Romulo, who was accompanied by Army Intelligence Regiment Commander Brig. Gen. Yegor Rey Barroquillo, served as the guest of honor and speaker at the event which capped-off the 2022 Veterans’ Week commemoration anchored on the theme "Kagitingan ng mga Bayani, Inspirasyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino."
The sunset ceremony is a tradition where Filipino veterans and their families, government officials, soldiers, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines gather and light candles at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor the heroism and sacrifices of Filipino war veterans.
