US Army attaché renders courtesy call on CGPA

United States (U.S.) Army Attaché to the Philippines Col. Elridge Singleton rendered a courtesy call on Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., to reaffirm the U.S. Army’s commitment to help modernize the Philippine Army at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on July 22, 2022.
 
Lt. Gen. Brawner and Col. Singleton discussed building capabilities together as partner nations, modernizing and professionalizing combat operations, and enhancing aviation and riverine capabilities. The Army Chief and the U.S. Army attaché specifically discussed the annual Salaknib exercise and the PA’s gradual shift of focus from internal security to territorial defense.
 
The U.S. Army attaché likewise highlighted the importance of the Philippines as a strategic partner in addressing traditional and non-traditional threats in the region. He likewise tackled the role of the Philippines as an important partner in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
 
Col. Singleton was accompanied by officers from the U.S. Army Attache Office and Joint U.S. Military Assistance Group-Philippines (JUSMAG-P).
