Army shooters win in 2024 IPSC Australasia Handgun/PCC Championship
Philippine Army personnel and reservists showcased their marksmanship capabilities and warfighting readiness by bagging gold medals in the 2024 International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Australasia Handgun/PCC Championship held at Pecatu Bali, Indonesia on September 01, 2024.
Maj. Lenard Lopez emerged as the Team Classic Division Champion, securing the Gold Medal and adding to his accolades with an Overall 3rd Place Bronze Medal. Team Philippines also bagged the overall championship in the Classic Category, highlighting their excellence in the competition. Meanwhile, TSg Willard Carrera clinched the Team Production Division Championship, earning a Gold Medal, and finishing 3rd overall with a Bronze Medal.
SSg Jerome Morales (RES) distinguished himself as the Production Optics Senior Champion, securing a Gold Medal, and as part of the Production Optics Team Champion, which also took home Gold. He also capped his achievements by winning the Production Optics Senior Shoot-Off Champion title.
The Army also acknowledges other participants- Ltc Mark Anthony Lasam PA, Ltc Hans Oliver Bearneza PA, Maj Allan Guibone PA and reservist, Edrick Chan
The Australasia Handgun Championship is an IPSC level 4 championship hosted every third year in Australasia. The IPSC is the world’s largest shooting sport association and the largest and oldest within practical shooting. This year's event was held in Bali-Indonesia from August 20, 2024, to September 01, 2024.
The Philippine Army's participation and success in this international competition reflect its focus on enhancing warfighting capability and readiness through advanced marksmanship training. The Army remains dedicated to developing its personnel skills, ensuring they are prepared to meet the challenges of modern warfare.
