FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army sent 90 new 2nd Lieutenants to their assignments in a Send-Off Ceremony here today, March 19, 2020.
Amidst the battle against COVID-19, the new lieutenants will be deployed in the frontlines to perform security and stability operations in the country.
Col. Eliglen Villaflor, Director of the Army Personnel Management Center, introduced the lieutenants who came from six different classes and professions. The lieutenants came from Officer Candidate Course (OCC) "Alibtak" Class 52-2019, OCC "Emancipator" CL 50-2018, Philippine Military Academy "Mabalasik" Class 2019, Officer Preparatory Course "Himaglahi" CL 69-2019, United States Military Academy Class 2019, and officers from Technical Administrative Service of Technical Administrative Service Military Orientation Course “Baskug” CL 14-2019.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay emphasized the importance of the lieutenants' health and well-being especially during the spread of the virus in the country.
"Ang kailangan nyo lang sa misyon ay puso at malasakit- sa misyon, sundalo, mga kapwa natin Filipino, at sa bansa. Importante kayo sa Hukbong Katihan," said Gapay. "Stay healthy, focused, and committed. Trabaho lang para sa bayan," Gapay added.
