FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – On March 27, 2020, in coordination with the Philippine Army, the last batch of relief goods from the generated online funds by Bela Padilla were handed over to Caritas Manila.
After a successful relief goods distribution to target beneficiaries in Metro Manila such as the homeless, street vendors, elderly, persons with disability, commuters, jeepney, pedicab and tricycle drives and Caritas Manila, Ms Padilla intends to donate the remaining relief goods to Caritas Manila.
Last March 16, Ms Padilla started her initiative in gathering funds through her social media accounts purposely to raise funds, buy relief goods and donate it to Metro Manila recipients who are affected by the enhanced community quarantine in the city. A total of Php 3.3 million was raised and immediatelt seek the assistance of the Philippine Army in transporting, repacking and delivery of goods to the designated communities.
“The Philippine Army will continue to provide assistance to any stakeholders or individuals who intends to provide support to our fellowmen in this time of crisis,” Philippine Army Spokesperson Col. Ramon P. Zagala said.
“We shall remain true to our mandate in serving the Filipino people in the best way we can,” Zagala added
