CGPA lauds 71IB troops’ against CTGs encounter

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Commanding General, Philippine Army lauds the 71st Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry “Agila” Division troops for repelling the attacks of Communists Terrorist Groups (CTGs) at Barangay Tagdangua, Pantukan, Davao de Oro today, April 7, 2020.

Soldiers of the 71st IB together with the Regional Mobile Force Company, Philippine National Police performed an active defense patrol as part of the COVID-19 operation in the said area.

Around 6:50 a.m., said government personnel were fired upon by undetermined number of CTGs believed to be members of Weakened Guerrilla Front 2, Sub-Regional Command 2, and Southern Mindanao Regional Party Committee. Government forces fought back in which firefight resulted to neutralization of one CTG member and recovery of one M4 rifle and one AK47 rifle.

“To the troops of 71st Infantry Battalion, I commend your teamwork and cooperation with other government forces that resulted to this successful encounter. Remain alert when doing your assignments and don’t let the rebel groups take advantage of our country’s current crisis. Let us continue protecting and securing the lives of the Filipino people,” said Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay. #
