FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Commanding General, Philippine Army donned the two-star rank to Commander, Army Support Command (ASCOM) here today, April 22, 2020.
Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay administered the donning of rank to the current ASCOM Commander Maj. Gen. Glenn E. Cruz.
Cruz, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1990. He demonstrated his excellence and professionalism in his previous assignments as Executive Officer, Deputy, and Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4. He led the Service Support Battalion of 9th Infantry Division and the General Headquarters Procurement Center, Armed Forces of the Philippines Procurement Service as the Commanding Officer. He also displayed great leadership skills as ASCOM Commander performing critical logistical mission in connection with the Philippine Army’s Enhanced Community Quarantine efforts in combatting COVID-19.
"May the new rank that you proudly bear on your shoulders enable you to do more beyond the set expectations and serve with diligence," said Lieutenant General Gapay.
"You are bound to face more and inevitable challenges in your role as the commander of the unit leading our efforts against the current pandemic, and as a leader whom your people will look up to. Always remember the Army brand of honor, patriotism, and duty in your endeavors," Gapay added.
