FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – As part of his thrust to boost troop morale, the Commanding General Philippine Army paid a visit to the 2nd Infantry Jungle Fighter Division (2ID) today, June 02, 2020 at Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.
During his talk, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay commended the 2ID’s gains against security threats, particularly the Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNT). He also reiterated to the division to sustain mission effectiveness despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Jungle Fighter Division is tasked to perform Internal Security Operations in the CALABARZON region, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro. It reported a total of 398 neutralized enemies, 157 seized firearms and 15 cleared barangays from CNT influence by the end of 2019; and 75 neutralized enemies, 23 seized firearms and six cleared barangays this year.
Gapay highlighted in his speech that leadership, teamwork, and commitment are the key factors to achieve peace and development in their area of responsibility, while stressing the need to intensify trainings and strengthen unit capabilities.
The CGPA also visited the camp’s security equipment for the 'new normal' and led the inauguration of Lalugan Hall Non-Commissioned Officers Clubhouse as well as the awarding of deserving 2ID personnel.
“I am happy that 2ID is attune with the challenge,” Gapay said. “But we should not be contented despite the many successes. Let us level up to accomplish more to finish the insurgency. I ask everyone to remain dedicated, committed, and passionate in the service as it is the mark of an Army trooper,” he added. #
