Army gives food, medical assistance to stranded passengers

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army distributes food and provided medical assistance to the stranded passengers who were accommodated at the Philippine Army Wellness Center (PAWC) today, June 14, 2020.

The stranded passengers received meals from mobile food trailers operated by the Army Support Command and basic necessities from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Military medical personnel are also present to provide medical assistance and to ensure their safety against the threat of the COVID-19 virus.

On June 13, 150 locally-stranded individuals were provided temporary shelter by the Army. Sixteen individuals were assisted and transported for their flights and 26 more passengers were transported to PAWC. As of writing, a total of 160 individuals are currently accommadated until flights become available.

"Your Philippine Army will continue to extend the appropriate assistance to our stranded kababayans. We will work to lighten your burden as you wait for the flights and other means of transportation to become available," said the Commanding General Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay. #
