FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army installs the new Commander of the 5ID Star Troopers in a Change of Command Ceremony at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Gamu, Isabela today, July 14, 2020.
In the ceremony presided by the Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Reynaldo M. Aquino, Maj. Gen. Pablo M. Lorenzo relinquished his position to Brig. Gen. Laurence E. Mina.
Mina served as the Commander of 502nd Infantry “Liberator” Brigade and Chief of Staff of 5ID prior to his assumption. He is a member of Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.
On the other hand, Lorenzo's leadership resulted to the clearing of 34 local terrorist group affected barangays, neutralized 276 enemy personalities, recovered 175 firearms and explosives, and dismantled 2 guerilla front committees. The division was also conferred the Army Governance Pathway Institutionalized Status with Silver Trailblazer Award during his stint. Lorenzo graduated from PMA as a member of “Sinagtala” Class of 1986.
“General Angelo Reyes, the 10th 5ID Commander, believed that ‘only our best is good enough.’ Since then, from conducting combat operations to looking after the well-being of personnel, 5ID has stood faithful to the drive of the late General Reyes,” said Aquino in his speech.
“For all of us Army personnel, we have a timeline to defeat terrorism before 2022. Remain focused and stay healthy to win the peace. Uphold our brand of honor, patriotism, and duty. Be the best in everything that we do,” Aquino added. #
