FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army (PA) together with the Malaysian Army (MA) held a virtual meeting to strengthen the bilateral relations of the two countries here on August 27, 2020.
Philippine Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans Col. Rommel R. Cordova chaired the 34th Malaysia-Philippines (MALPHI) Army Working Group virtual meeting with Malaysian Army Operation and Training Branch Director General Brigedier Jeneral Mohd Mahmud Bin Ahmad. They are also joined by Malaysian Defense Attaché to the Philippines Col. Saharudin Bin Harun.
During the meeting, the two armies presented the ongoing and proposed future activities for years 2019 to 2021 amid the pandemic.
MA accepted three Philippine Army-proposed bilateral activities for 2021, aside from these they also accepted six individual courses offered by the PA. On the other hand, PA welcomed four MA proposed activities. The MA also granted the PA’s request for one slot in the MA’s Command and Staff Course.
The two armies look forward for the signing of the renewal of the Terms of Reference when the Malaysia Chief of Army visits the Philippine Army in the future.
Cordova and Mohd extended their gratitude for making the Malaysia-Philippines working group meeting possible and that the activities discussed will be successfully implemented in order to advance the two armies’ mutual interests.#
