FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division (6ID) of the Philippine Army welcomes its new commander today, September 7, 2020 at Camp Brig. Gen. Gonzalo Siongco, Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
In a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony presided by the Commanding General Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana, Maj. Gen. Diosdado C. Carreon relinquished the position to Maj. Gen. Juvymax R. Uy.
During Maj. Gen. Carreon’s stint, the Division neutralized 630 enemy personalities, seized 415 firearms and 84 anti-personnel mines, and confiscated 308 loose firearms, and was ranked number one among the Philippine Army major units. He formerly headed the 601st Infantry Brigade, 6ID; and Joint Task Force-General Santos, 10th Infantry Division. He previously served as Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to Singapore and Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, 6ID. Carreon graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) as a member of “Hinirang” Class 1987.
Maj. Gen. Uy, on the other hand, served as the Internal Auditor, Armed Forces of the Philippines prior to his assumption. His experience as former Assistant Division Commander of 6ID will be valuable in sustaining the initiatives of his predecessor. He is a member of PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989.
“The Kampilan Division, as the tribal sword, does not only represent strength, it epitomizes the Philippine Army. Its victories testify to a great leadership tradition of which I am proud to have been part of,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana, a former 6ID commander himself, in his remarks.
“Sa ating Kampilan troopers, ipagpatuloy ninyo ang inyong dedikasyon sa serbisyo. Tandaan natin na ang taong masaya, maraming nagagawa. Angkla ng kasiyahan ay ang malalim na mithi sa buhay. Sa atin, ang mithiing ito ay ang serbisyo at pagmamahal sa bayan,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.#
