FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Office of the International Military Affairs (OIMA) is conferred with the Army Governance Pathway (AGP) Initiated Status here today, September 22, 2020.
The Commanding General, Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana together with Army Governance Strategy Management Office Chief Col. Joel Paloma and OIMA Chief Col. Ferdinand Ga led the pinning of the Initiated Status medallion on OIMA’s plaque for ensuring a purposive engagement with the Philippine Amy’s foreign counterparts.
OIMA is primarily responsible in matters pertaining to the facilitation of all administrative requirements of the Philippine Army in its bilateral and multi-lateral engagements. Prior to the activation of OIMA in August 2019, International Defense and Security Engagements (IDSE) is affiliated to the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs, G5.
The AGP adheres to four stages specifically Initiated, Compliant, Proficient and Institutionalized status which aim to drive results, reward performance, and institutionalize the Army Transformation Roadmap.
Lt. Gen. Sobejana recognized the efforts of OIMA in facilitating major IDSEs and creating Army Working Groups with foreign countries like Brunei, the US, Indonesia, Malaysia Singapore, Australia, Japan, and Thailand. “Diplomacy is a tool to achieve the Army’s ultimate objective. Oftentimes, diplomacy spells the difference between a violent loss and a peaceful victory,” he said.
