FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army (PA) concluded the 13th Senior Leaders Conference (SLC) via virtual conference from March 18 to 19, 2021.
Through the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, PA senior leaders and subject matter experts from the military and the academe convened to discuss current operational environment in terms of the cognitive domain, technology, and changes due to pandemic. The conference is hybrid with a combination of virtual and limited face to face participants while all speakers delivering their talks virtually.
Guest of Honor and Speaker Secretary Hermogenes C. Esperon Jr., National Security Adviser and Director General of the National Security Council, emphasized the role of military leaders in addressing security threats amid the pandemic. “[The PA SLC] brings fresh ideas and traditional ideas for us. With your support and patriotism, I am confident that we will thrive towards the challenges ahead of us,” he said.
Anchored on the theme “Philippine Army: Focused on the Present, Confident in the Future”, said event is also a prelude for the upcoming 124th Founding Anniversary of the command.
PA SLC started in 2004 as a leadership development program that informs Army senior leaders on the advancement in military affairs and contemporary leadership concepts.
“PA SLC seeks to cultivate the culture of strategic thinking within the organization. [It] intends to introduce and advance effective leadership practices and principles relevant to the times” said Col. Rommel R. Cordova, Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans.
“During these challenging times, leadership is the anchor that provides the stability in sustaining the Army’s momentum,” said Army Acting Commanding General Lt. Gen. Jose C. Faustino Jr. “May we have an enriching and productive forum to raise further the bar of our competency as senior leaders of the Army,” he added.#
